Abuse Intervention Program Assessment
- Required before entering any group or individual counseling services, with the exception of Love & Logic Parenting classes.

Partner Abuse Intervention Services (PAIP)
The individual will attend weekly group sessions for a minimum of 26 weeks. The IDHS-approved program is designed to help individuals who have used abusive, coercive, reactive or controlling behaviors in a current or past intimate relationship. Clients may be mandated to attend this program by a court, DCFS, or can choose to voluntarily participate in the program.
Sessions include developing skills for:
- Recognition and identification of abusive behaviors including non-physical forms of violence
- Accepting responsibility for abusive or controlling behaviors and changing attitudes that lead to abusive behavior
- Recognize the warning signs precipitating an abusive incident
- Non-abusive, respectful conflict resolution
- Expressing anger in non-abusive ways
- Accepting responsibility for abusive or controlling behaviors and changing attitudes that lead to abusive behavior
- Assertive, non-aggressive communication
- Achievement and maintenance of non-abusive intimate relationships
- Achievement and maintenance of healthy and non-abusive parenting
- Understanding the dynamics of domestic violence and its impact on partner, children, and society

Anger Management Program *
The individual will attend weekly group or individual sessions for a minimum of 12 weeks. The sessions are designed to help individuals who have experienced negative consequences of their anger, or who have used abusive or reactive behaviors towards family members or individuals who are not current or former intimate partners. Community Crisis Center anger management program are on the 16th Judicial Circuit Anger Management Approved Provider List and are accepted by all courts in Kane County.
Sessions include:
- Acknowledging abusive behavior and accepting responsibility for one’s own actions
- Understanding events and cues that lead to problematic expressions of anger
- Developing a plan for de-escalating anger and cognitive restructuring
- Identifying and changing the cycle of aggression
- Assertiveness training and the conflict resolution model: alternatives for expressing anger in non-violent ways
- Anger and the family; how past learning can influence present behavior
- Learn and practice assertive communication skills
*Clients who have been abusive in current or past intimate relationships are not eligible for anger management services, and will be referred to the Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) services.

Caring Dads/Nurturing Moms Program
Individual will attend weekly individual sessions for 17 weeks. The Caring Dads/Nurturing Moms Program is for fathers, mothers, legal guardian, or caregiver to a minor child (including biological, step and common-law) who exposed their children to violence, have physically or mentally abused or neglected their children or are at high-risk for these behaviors.
Sessions include developing skills to:
- Promote child-centered parenting
- Engage in respectful and non-abusive co-parenting with the child’s other parent
- Learn to recognize the impact of the child’s experience of trauma

Love & Logic Parenting – (no abuse/neglect indicated)
No assessment is required to participate in Love & Logic Parenting. Individual will attend 6 weekly individual sessions.
Sessions include developing skills to:
- Addresses setting limits and holding children accountable with logical consequences and focus on empathy and compassion, and healthy decision making
- Addresses parenting styles, boundaries and self-care for (parent/guardian/caregiver) and nurturing component and how it impacts a child development
- Addresses abuse and neglect

- 24-hour hotline support available to all AIP clients
- Services are available to individuals who are mandated by court, DCFS, or on a voluntary basis
- Sliding scale fees are available for group and individual counseling services
- Cash, credit/debit cards, or money orders are accepted
