Winter Wear Giveaway Warms the Heart and Soul

As the fall days turn colder, and winter is just around the corner, the Crisis Center’s dedicated volunteers are knee deep in sorting winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves as our annual Winter Wear Giveaway gets underway. A critical initiative every year at the Crisis center and for the community, it is all made possible by our generous supporters, donors and volunteers.

For the first time since the pandemic, we are back to personally providing winter wear from our facility to those in need from the community. Twice a week, on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings, families and individuals from the community can visit the crisis center to select their winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves for winter. A family in need just has to call or stop into the center and ask to speak to a case manager about signing up for our Winter Wear Giveaway. They will then be given an appointment time to come back on a Tuesday afternoon or Friday morning. On the day of their appointment, if not before, they are provided with a form that they then take to our ‘coat room’, where our dedicated volunteers assist them with their winter wear selections. There is no cost to participate. The giveaway started in October and is expected to continue throughout the winter, as long as we have winter wear available.
