DSV counseling team to offer new Counseling Group Healing Pathways

This spring the Crisis Center will be offering a new group counseling program for adult women survivors of sexual assault called Healing Pathways. This group will meet weekly over the course of 10 weeks, with the goal of helping survivors explore topics related to their healing. Topics being discussed in group sessions will include dealing with one’s emotions, like anger, fear, and grief; and providing guidance on how to build trust, form healthy relationships, and develop healthy coping strategies. The group will also discuss the importance of self-care, building self-esteem and reducing risk of further harm.

Maureen Manning, CCC’s Executive Director, is very excited about this new initiative: “The Crisis Center is pleased to be offering this type of group program for our clients. It can be a powerful means for survivors to receive support from others who share similar experiences, increase one’s self-awareness and build a focus on personal strength and hope through connection and validation.”
