Intervention
|
Batterer Intervention Program It is the philosophy of the Community Crisis Center’s Batterer Intervention Program that violence is an unacceptable means of dealing with conflict, and is solely the responsibility of the perpetrator: the perpetrator has chosen to behave violently and alone can make the choice to change this behavior. Everyone is responsible for his or her own actions. The reality is that a person’s violence against his or her partner is a violent criminal act, not a marital or relationship problem. Although the batterer may make allegations regarding provocation, it is our position that it is impossible for the behavior of one person to compel another person to be violent. Nobody deserves to be abused for any reason. Violence is a learned behavior with rewards and consequences and it can be unlearned. It is also the belief of the Community Crisis Center that violence is reinforced by our society and can be passed on from generation to generation. |
